Bleh Day

I don't really want to be anywhere today, but I definitely don't want to be here.

I've got tutoring after work, and then I'll be home in time for a late dinner and maybe a smidgeon of writing before I have to get to bed so that I can get a full night's sleep and then get up and do it all again.

I'm fantasizing about vacations. If you could vacation for a few days anywhere, where would you go? If you could choose a vacation for me, what would it be?

If I could go anywhere, I'd want to go to the haunted castles in the British Isles, or Romanian castles.
For you, I'd think Edinburgh. JK Rowling has said it's a very literary city, and as a writer, you'd probably like that.

if you're looking for a very relaxed kind of thing, I highly reccomend a town called Julian, just inland from San Diego. which means that you can go to SD and go to the zoo or sea world or both! but Julian is very out of the way and other people are very much an option rather than ever-present. and it's only about a six hour drive from you! i love google maps.

Those all sound pretty good... Overseas would be neat.

Google maps is awesomeness. Jimmy's parents actually live somewhat near SD, so we'd be kind've like contractually obligated to stay with them if we were in the area. Julian sounds lovely, though.

Well, for me it'd be somewhere in Italy (probably Venice, I love the city to pieces, wandering off into back streets and just chancing on a piazza, or a little church is magical) or the Lake District in England. For you I'd say come to England when I'm back in Oxford and I'll show you around, but since I'm going to do realistic fantasising for you, some where green and non-desert-y in the US, someone on my flist takes about this lake she visits that has a beach, lakes in england don't tend to have sandy beaches so I'd go there for novelty.

....or go to Japan and see Karen!

I'd love to get a tour of Oxford from you at some point. That'd be awesomeness.

Well...I should confess, my usual tour involves showing people a few colleges whilst reminding them in a loud voice that of course my college is the best for about an hour...then; 'shall we go to the Pitt-Rivers museum?!' and dragging them off there so I can spend a happy day amongst the artifacts. It is the coolest place on earth http://www.prm.ox.ac.uk/ yo!

...Sounds like fun to me!
