Hi Robyn!

Gay used to mean fun, light-hearted, jolly. Errol Flynn as Zorro, the Gay Blade. Never heard of anyone using "gay" to mean foolish or undesirable...yet! But yeah, I would steer clear of any game group that did. Heterosexist bias my foot, more like homophobic.
