Taking Off
Well, I'm leaving NYC tomorrow.
kphoebe and I have been pretty successful tourists. We did Central Park all by ourselves, and then the Metropolitan Museum with
poisonivory and sitting around on the floor of a Barnes and Noble (evidently a very New Yorky thing to do) with
poisonivory and
queenitsy. We got lost on the subway, and then used it successfully several times, taking a super-long ride on it today to visit with
ktempest. And we went to the Toys R Us in Times Square so that I could see the two-story Barbie castle. It was totally two stories, you guys.
I'm definitely ready to return to the dry heat of Tucson, but I wish this trip could have lasted longer. It's been really nice to spend so much time with Karen, and I would have loved to have been able to hang out more with our friends here in New York. But I did have a lot of fun, so yay!
I wrote a not-dirty limerick to thank Barry and Libba for letting us stay with them, which Karen and I put in a card for them. It reads thus:
Barry Goldblatt and Libba Bray
Invited two writers to stay
"These girls are so tense,"
Libba said, "and I sense
What they need is a really good night's sleep."
