Now that I think about it, I suppose it could be some kind of corruption or shortening of Andreas, but you should probably start using peoples real names when you talk about them, rather than a shortening. I guess he could also be a commoner, but I don't really understand how it would be a shock to find a tactless person at a commoner's party.
