revena: Drawing of me (Dew)

Lest You Think Me Normal

Just in case you guys have started thinking of my culinary habits as normal (I can't imagine any of you have. Chicken livers, for god's sake!), I'd just like to announce what I had for dinner tonight:

Three poached eggs.

One cold leftover steak (approx. 4oz).

Mountain Dew.

Yes, all at the same time. Two of the three (guess which!) were even in the same bowl!

Hah! Beat that!

(incidentally, the writing is really kicking my ass tonight, so if you want to leave some sort of encouraging word while you either tell me that your dinner was weirder or that I should probably not be allowed to feed myself, that would be swell)

Mountain Dew!

Must add that to the list of American foods I'm feeding Luke when I take him to the States.

So far on the list:

In and Out Burgers
Lucky Charms
Root Beer
Twinkies
Buffalo meat

[identity profile] revena.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. I can count the number of times I've eaten any of those, aside from root beer, on one hand.

[identity profile] raghnaid.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
my dinner wasn't so weird, if a little disparate - raw spinach with balsamic vinegrette, with cheese and crackers.

you could always do like the teddy, Robyn. or, you know, not. but at least you're kinda almost being productive. Consider this - i have actually written the "orison" drabble you set me to. i just sort of hate it right now, but am too lazy to do more than change a word here or there as it suits me. it's been open on the desktop for days and days. so no matter what, just know i may be more of a writing slacker. i'm jus' sayin'.

[identity profile] moon-fox.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 07:27 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, assuming it was the steak and eggs together, that sounds rather more normal than chicken livers. Eggs and meat go well together.

Now if you put the mountain dew on the eggs, of course, that's another thing entirely.

Let's see...I had:

Pizza with pepperoni and pineapples
2 donut peaches
peanut butter m&ms
Pepsi and wild berry water

Do I win? ;-)

[identity profile] revena.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
So, do you think if I held eye drops up to my forehead, the third eye would open to receive them...?

[identity profile] revena.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
But Mountain Dew and steak would be fine, right?

...Right?

[identity profile] revena.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 07:42 am (UTC)(link)
Depends on whether you consumed any or all of those things together as one harmonious meal!

[identity profile] zinaya-y2kewel.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 07:46 am (UTC)(link)
I did indeed. The best part was the Pepsi since I don't have it that often. George thought it was kinda gross but pineapples followed by a peanut butter m&m isn't that bad.

Those donut peaches invade every meal now. Last night it was fries, veggies, and peaches (yes, I need to get to the store for actual meat). :p

[identity profile] raghnaid.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 07:53 am (UTC)(link)
ach, wouldn't that be awesome? maybe you would need special drops. visine seems a little common as a remedy for an itchy third eye. maybe you could do it metaphorically, even. hmm.

Steak and eggs sounds quite normal. (It was steak and eggs rather than either of the other two options, right? I hope?) Chicken livers are pretty normal in this house too, even if I personally can't stand them.

My dinner was definitely weirder than yours. Dad made nachos, and his nachos do not resemble nachos. Chips, ground beef, lettuce, tomato, black beans, salsa, and jar "cheese".

I'm not sure if this counts as encouraging, but I'm trying to do final edits on a story that is Not Cooperating myself at the moment, so at least you're not alone in your frustration.

[identity profile] revena.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 07:55 am (UTC)(link)
I think the whole pregnancy thing might put you in a different division of this competition, though.

[identity profile] revena.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
It was more that the steak was cold leftovers and the eggs were freshly poached than the combination of steak and eggs itself that I thought was funny.

Those nachos sound horrifying, though. Jar cheese? AUGH.

They really are. We've convinced my father to by Tostitos cheese rather than OkyeDoke, or however it's spelled. It really is an improvement, which is a sad, sad thing.

Incidentally, if you see a story from me tomorrow and have a moment to read it, I'd really love some feedback on it from the point of view of someone who won't be all excited just because of the pairing. It's a bit experimental for me, and I really have no idea if the style works.

You, lady will be fine.

My dinner was rather boring. Roast veggies - being potato, onion, carrot, parsnip, kumara, pumpkin and yams, drenched in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. (And MD on the side... mmmm.... MD).

But lunch was weird. 2x Reeces giant peanut butter cups, pastrami, a custard yogurt, diet ginger beer and some double chocolate oreos. In that order. (but not from the same container).

:)

I'll keep my eye out!

[identity profile] revena.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
Your dinner sounds really good. *jealous*

[identity profile] avalonne.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 09:05 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't got around to buying groceries yet, so I'm just scrounging.

Poached eggs and steak sounds good to me too. ^.^

[identity profile] revena.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 09:07 am (UTC)(link)
Jimmy got me this little machine that poaches my eggs for me, so I'm just eating poached eggs all the time, now.

He's a keeper, that one.

[identity profile] avalonne.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 09:23 am (UTC)(link)
He sounds it. Boys like that are one in a trillion

Have you ever considered kidnapping him, crossing state lines, eloping and in doing so making sure that nobody could steal him away? ^.^

[identity profile] mattmatt.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
*hoogles*

[identity profile] revena.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 09:37 am (UTC)(link)
Woo!

Or would that be: Woogles!

[identity profile] revena.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
Only sometimes.

[identity profile] anariel-di-gaia.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
As someone who eats peanut butter and lettuce sandwiches I don't think I could possibly comment on anyone else's eating habits.

Man, I wish thry still sold Mountain Dew in England, if you ask me, it was a huge loss to the nation when they stopped importing it

[identity profile] revena.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
They don't have Mountain Dew in England?

Oh noes!

Ok, that's a great big tick in the "con" box on the "should I allow Karen to convince me to attempt graduate studies in the UK?" pro/con list...

(I'm mostly joking. I could always ship it!)

[identity profile] anariel-di-gaia.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
They used when I was little, but they cruelly stopped selling it, which was when I realised I was hooked.

Having said that, I've just found a site that sells it (at about 70p a can, I'm so tempted to buy some...) so there is no reason not to do graduate studies in the UK! (Also, I'm reliably assured that UK coca cola has more caffeine in it, so there's sort of an alternative). No reason at all.

[identity profile] revena.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, aside from probable enormous expense, separation from the source of Jimmy-cuddles, and the possibility that I still won't be mentally ready for grad school by the time Karen is... ;-)

[identity profile] benjamintravis.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Last night for dinner I ate:

1 can of Safeway brand Garbanzo Beans
1 Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich
1 Beef Chalupa Supreme
44oz Diet Pepsi.

Order was PBJ, Chalupa, Beans, soda was intermittent. Yes, I planned to eat all this at the same time. No, I didn't mix-match items.

[identity profile] benjamintravis.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Tonight I'm thinking a Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito, Can of Hominy, and a Granola Bar.
