But Where Did it Come From?

Somehow, a French franc got in with my laundry quarters. The machine kept spitting it back out, and I tried it again several times before I paused to look at it and worked out why.

That was sort of odd. I've never been to France, and neither has Jameson.

You got me.

I've been reading in your dryer. Sorry about that.

*laugh* Oh, that explains it, then.

The light is pretty good in there...

Better yet, those coins have been replaced by euros for 5 years or more.

I was just looking francs up to be sure it was what I thought it was, and noticed that. How very odd.

I would blame wherever you bank, since when I worked retail we'd get foreign coins right in the coin rolls from the bank. (Which was rather odd, too.) But if that theory were right, the machine would have taken it (probably). Though, I suppose laundry machines could be pickier than bank coin counters. Frightening thought.

It is a bit frightening, yes.

[identity profile] jasminehammer.livejournal.com 2007-12-18 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Obviously it came from the franc fairy. You must have been a VERY good girl this year!

[identity profile] revena.livejournal.com 2007-12-19 12:22 am (UTC)(link)
That seems entirely plausible and, indeed, likely! Huzzah!

I work at a FedEx Kinkos. People who've been to Europe don't always realize they've got Euros in their change when they come back, and it gets accepted and treated like regular change due to busy-ness. If I notice a foreign coin in the till I check out, I swap my own coin for it, or offer it to a customer in exchange for real money if it's Canadian.
