A Happy Birthday
So today was my birthday, and I am now 28. Exciting! I slept in really late because Karen gave me a gift certificate for romance novels cleverly disguised as a PayPal deposit last night (because it was already my birthday in Australia), and I felt the immediate need to buy a novel and then spent ages and ages choosing one and somehow didn't get to bed until five in the morning. Oops.
But when I did finally wake up, Jimmy made me poached eggs and toast, and then he drew me a nice hot bath while I read my internets (and I got so many nice birthday wishes from friends ♥), and he did some laundry while I soaked. Then I wrote for a while, and we met my parents for dinner at the Mongolian BBQ place I like so that I could feed my insatiable craving for bamboo, and Mom gave me some very pretty silver earrings. They sparkle a lot, which is always a plus. She wants to take me shopping tomorrow, too, and probably I will get a new outfit. I wanted to shop mostly for a new top to go with this skirt I've been making for myself from a pattern drafted to ~my exact measurements~, but I finished said skirt last night and it is somehow too big. *FACEPALM* I think I can fix it, so we'll see. If not, it's not a huge loss, as the fabric was on super-duper sale, and it will have been a good learning experience.
After dinner I wrote some more, and then watched an adaptation of Northanger Abbey that actually disappointed me a lot. I thought the actors were adorable, but the script was meh, and etc., but then I complained about it at length in Jimmy's general direction, which sort of made up for it.
In conclusion, very nice birthday. Yay!
