Pretty Good: I get to sleep in my own house tonight! We didn't get all of my furniture moved, but my bed is all made up, at least. Yay! And we're pushing back our departure for California until Friday morning, rather than Thursday morning, so I'll have a little more time for laundry, and packing, and all that kind of stuff.

Pretty Awful: So, of course, my laptop just broke. The screen won't light up. Jimmy suspects that it's fixable, but that it'd take more than an afternoon.

I'm going to California for a week. On a pseudo-vacation - a great time to get a lot of writing done!

Except, with no laptop.

WTF, Universe? Give me a break, already!

Laptop Update

I know you guys are on the edges of your proverbial seats about my laptop situation, so here's an update!

The repair dude at CompUSA said he thought it'd cost probably around $800 to fix the screen. So I said, "Ok. Time for a new laptop, then."

And then I bought one. I can't really afford it, but I also can't afford not to be able to write, and the laptop is a major tool. I just will need to be a good kid and not buy any Barbies or go to any movies, and I'll use coupons at the grocery store for a couple of months, and I'll be fine. Happily, Jameson's mom usually has a big stack of free movie passes, and she doesn't go to movies hardly at all, so maybe I'll be able to get my entertainment fix this week, and then the fast won't feel so hard (haha).

And the new machine is quite awesome (it's an HP Pavilion DV6119US, if you feel compelled to look it up). So much so that when Jameson was setting it up for me while I was in the other room, just now, he felt compelled to name it Emlyn.

"You named it Emlyn?" I said, when I noticed.

"Well, yeah," he replied. "Because it's awesome. Like Emlyn."

I guess we all know now which of my characters is his favorite (as if we didn't already).
