New Cerise!
Sep. 5th, 2007 09:49 pmThe latest issue of Cerise is up. I felt really good about the content this time around, but I am super excited to see submissions start rolling in for next month. This is the submission prompt:
October 2007 Issue
Submission deadline: September 20, 2007
Theme: Special Halloween Issue: Ghouls and Ghosts and Zombies! Oh My!
Ghouls, ghosts, zombies, vampires and other things that go bump in the night have been a staple of table top and video games — from the survival horror genre to fantasy RPGs — since their inception. What is it about the monstrous that captivates audiences again and again? Is it all about the thrill of a good scare, or is there more going on? Can theories from feminist horror film analysis (such as the concept of “the final girl” and the identification of the monstrous with the feminine) be applied to gaming?
This issue aims to celebrate and examine the game monsters — fantastical, real, and imagined — that haunt our psyches and keep us jumping at every sound. If that makes your skin crawl in the good way, be sure to submit something for this issue!
Fun, yes? We're also asking for pictures of people in costume as game characters for October's Back Page - I'm gonna try to dig up a few of myself as a pre-teen dressed up as my D&D characters.
