revena: Drawing of me (Wedding)
I'm getting married in a month (holy crap, I'm getting married in a month!), so I think it's kinda natural that I'm interested in the Black Canary and Green Arrow gettin' hitched storyline, even though I don't actually care too much about the romance between those particular characters. Anyway, I keep my eye on [livejournal.com profile] scans_daily, and I've been clickin' on through every time I see that someone's posted a few images related to the wedding arc. So this evening, I saw these scans.

You know, I had kinda assumed somehow that all of the attention on the wedding planning and all was meant to be attractive to the kind of people who spend a lot of time fantasizing about weddings (usually heterosexual women. I am just saying), but the whole "lets all model lingerie for each other, tee hee!" bit seems to be playing into the more traditional market of fantasies for (heterosexual) fanboys. So, who knows. Maybe there's some market research out there that's influencing this. Or maybe the artists and writers don't know how to produce comics without sexy sexy women. It is a mystery!

Also a mystery, and one that I will confess is actually bothering me much more, is why these women are trying on the lingerie - including the underwear. I am 24. I started wearing frilly underthings on occasion when I was about 16. I have bought a fair quantity of lingerie in my time. I have never tried panties on at a store. Bras, yes. Panties, no. It is my understanding that one doesn't try on the panties because of hygiene issues. Do they waive this guideline at high-end lingerie shops, or something? I just can't get over how weird that scene seems to me.

...Why are they trying on the panties???

Hopefully, one of you will be able to clear this up for me.

P.S. It's a good thing Dinah's got such bad posture! If she stopped rolling her shoulders forward in that dress or that bustier, she'd pop right out the top.

P.P.S. How does the dress have a high back when it's strapless...? So confused!
