Oh Baby, You Look So Sexy, Covered in Acid Like That

I'm collecting for this week's Wednesday Bad!Sex collection at writers_orgasm, and I keep coming across the same scenario over and over again. Someone spills a toxic potion on someone else, and then they have to shower it off (in the same shower, every time, just the two of them), and then sexiness ensues.

Dude. Really. Is there anything sexy about hosing something potentially deadly off your skin? And if there's a shower in/near the potions classroom at Hogwarts, just in case someone spills something truly toxic, why is it always described as a cubicle-style shower instead of like a real lab safety shower?

There's nothing sexy and intimate about a couple hundred gallons pouring out of a showerhead at high speed in the middle of a room where everyone would see you choosing life unscarred over dignity by removing your clothes, that's why.

Ok, I'm done. It was just driving me nuts. /rant.

Just be glad I'm not going on about the high tendency towards navel-licking that I'm seeing, lately... ;-)

I can actually speak from experience in both of those scenarios. I once spilled phenol down my front and on my arm while working under an extraction hood, and THEN had to shower IN the lab. Now, granted, there were no cute guys around that I really wanted to take my clothes off with at the moment, but never once did sexy enter my mind during that ordeal. And if there -had- been someone cute around, I think the shear panic of having hosed myself down with a powerful carcinogen would have pretty much killed the moment.

*nod* I've never actually had to do the emergency shower thing, myself, but I've witnessed the emergency eye bath. There's nothin' sexy about toxic chemicals and high-pressure showers. :-P

Ya know, I never thought about it, but that is something you see a lot...and when I think about it, it doesn't make sense. LOL.

I have to tell you, being a member of writers_orgasm has actually been good for me. I've learned about many, many things that I will now never do in my fics. LOL. Thanks for that! :-D
