So last night after martial arts, Jimmy and I came home and ate some take-out food and hung around for a bit watching some commentary on a Firefly episode. Afterwards, I checked my email, and found out that [livejournal.com profile] gimini_chick_in was in town, and interested in some kind of write-in. I contacted [livejournal.com profile] mugglegirl0908, and the three of us descended on Isaac and Jimmy's house, and then we all sat around in their living room with laptops until around six in the morning.

On the plus side, I got like 2,000-some words on the NaNovel, which I'm way behind on because of papers due last week. On the not-so-plus side, I haven't yet slept today.

Mom had wanted to take me to buy some simple shoes for work, and do some general mother-daughter bonding today. We'd talked about heading out at nine, so when I got home around seven, it just seemed best not to go to bed. I was rethinking that idea by 9:45, when I finally heard from my mother, who had decided to be nice and let me sleep in, and had gone off to have breakfast by herself instead of meeting me at her house at nine like we had said.

So I was pretty grumpy for a while, but the shoe-shopping went really well, and I found a simple pair of brown leather sneakers that are perfect for wearing to work and weren't too expensive. Then we went around to various different stores at the mall, and I started to get grumpy again. I fell asleep at J. Jill, even, which was kinda weird. We ended up our shopping trip with two nice things, though.

One was getting Subway sandwiches for lunch. Yay sandwiches!

The other was that Mom came to K. B. Toys with me, and saw the Happy Family Grandma Barbie that I've been kinda wanting an excuse to get for a while, and thought it'd be hilarious if I made it over to be her, and she could pose it on her desk at school. I've been desperately curious about that Barbie, because it looks like it might have a different body mold, when it's in the packaging, but I didn't know if it was actually a different body, or padded clothes, or what.

For those of you who may take an interest in this - it is a different body. It's got a thicker waist and hips, and a little bit of a bottom to it. The upper arms and thighs are also a little thicker, I think, and the doll has jointed elbows. She also has flat-bottomed feet. I'm kind've excited (in that dorky, dorky way) about the possibilities for characters who're a little chubbier and more rounded-looking than the usual Barbie body is. I'm pretty sure that the neck tree is the same as on a standard Barbie, so head swaps shouldn't be too difficult. Something to think about.

And now that I've had food, and been a dork about OaoK dolls, and gotten my work shoe problem taken care of - I'm gonna go take a nap.

It's just a little more normal. She's still pretty darn skinny, really, but it's a change from the usual Barbie body, at least.

Hey, I don't suppose you wanna go to IHOP tonight?

Hehe. No, we left IHOP at about 12:30 last night, so not too late. We need to hang out again, though! Do you live in Tucson or somewhere nearby?

By -my- standards, I guess I do. I'm used to driving 1000 miles a week, so that drive isn't actually that bad. I come on the weekends, anyway. Yep - I think we should hang out again, too. :-)

Hehe. Well, next time you're closer to Tucson, let us know! We can hang out and maybe actually get something done. ;-)

You could totally come. It'd be a bit of a drive, though, I think.
