Today is my first day at the office as a full time employee. One of my big worries about this shift has been that I'm going to be bored out of my mind. I don't really believe that one could file for an entire day, even if there was enough filing to be done that such a level of activity could be sustained. I'll be getting some new responsibilities, is what I hear, but that sort of thing takes forever around here, and I'll have to avoid going insane in the meantime.

So far, boredom hasn't been an issue, though. I spent the morning alternating between filing and setting up my new computer (ohgodthemonitorissosexy), with the added thrill of spending a little time under my desk unscrewing the much-hated keyboard tray. Which Robert said I should just throw away. Damn, but that felt good.

In future, however, I will not wear a nice skirt and boots to the office if I expect to be spending time under my desk. It's a bit awkward to make sure that everything stays decent and family-friendly when one is so dressed.

So what's the day been like for everyone else?

Umm... Are you using system one or system two?

In system two, it's pretty easy to do things like pick custom colors for everything. Just go to http://www.livejournal.com/customize/ and pick a layout you like and then go down to "change individual settings" and click the button for customizing. There'll be a few different tabs, and you can see where to set different colors and fonts and so on. If you pick a layout that supports it, you can put in a url for an image instead of a color, for the background. One layout that allows for that is "The Boxer", which is the one I'm using here. Another is "Variable Flow", which is what I'm using at [livejournal.com profile] judyths.

I pretty much just felt my way along by changing little things, saving, and then seeing how it looked... That's probably the best thing to do. But let me know if you've got any more questions.

I've been holed up in my room (so that my roommate doesn't disturb me, not to just be hermity) drawing. I have lots to catch up on. I almost wish I had work today, as this is definitely going to get monotonous at some point before Shaun gets home, but then I think about the post-holiday rush and am very glad for my day off.

Yeah, the holiday rush is probably a thing that is better avoided. I hope your drawing goes well and is productive and all!

I'm still all sicky. :(

A new computer sounds fun though!

It is fun! Sorta! The endless rebooting is kinda not-fun, but setting it up is nice.

I hope you start feeling better soon. Being sick is no fun at all.

Full-time employee! Eep! Hope you didn't flash too many of your work-mates whilst under the desk.

I went and visited old ladies in my neighbourhood to day, so I have been fed like a foie gras goose. They all think I'm underweight (although I'm blatantly not) and so try to feed me up whenever I go to see them.

My grandmother is just like that. She was totally obsessed with my Dad's weight, and acting like Mom and I were starving him, or something, when she was visiting us. He is not dangerously thin. And neither am I, damnit! And I don't even want another cookie, much less need one! :-P

I've been killing myself this week trying to finish this database contract by Friday. I am about to take work home again right now...and I'm trying to hurry up about it so I get to spend at least 15 minutes with my kids tonight.

I didn't log onto lj all day since my post this morning, but I'll update on my saga tonight and look at your office pics. *is all excited*

Welcome to the world of full time working people!!!11!! :-)
