So remember that post I made at 1:30 in the morning yesterday saying that I was done moving my stuff?

Lies!

I ended up hauling over a few more boxes, after all, and went to bed around three. My plan was to sleep in, and go to work for a half day in the afternoon.

So the contractor called me at seven, and said that there was still too much stuff in the house and he needed me to come over and move it.

I put on some yoga pants over my tank top and underwear that I was sleeping in, and went over to see what could be done. Then, I carried things like:

*my crockpot (free, now several years old)
*my television (also free, also several years old)
*the plastic tower in which I store my tupperware containers and pot lids (TUPPERWARE)
*my elderly boombox (which I received as a gift in the 80's, people)
*and more cheap, old stuff!

to my parents' house. I got to walk past the four guys from the air conditioning installation company, who were sitting on my front porch watching me, with every trip. Don't forget that I'm in my pajamas for all this... It makes it a much better story.

The two contractors did help me out a little bit (most notably with my "entertainment center" which is the $20 wheeled pressboard cart I bought at Target two years ago to hold my elderly DVD player), but they protested all the while that they needed me to move the stuff because if they moved it and broke any of it, I'd be really upset, and that would be really bad. And it needed to be moved in the first place partly because it was a little bit in the way, but mostly because it might get dusty or damaged during the construction, and then I'd be upset, and that would be really bad.

I can totally see myself pitching a fit over my crockpot getting messed up! That is exactly the sort of thing I would do!

Anyway, I moved stuff for another couple hours, and then decided that work just wasn't gonna happen, got cleaned up, and spent the day in bed reading and watching Jack of All Trades.

Today, after some early-morning fun involving my two cats and the resident cat at Mom and Dad's, I woke up, showered, and came in to work.

And then, at 10:45, guess who called me?

"Hello?"

"Hi! Got your moving shoes on today?"

"Uh, not particularly... What's up?"

"We need you to empty out this lovely little cabinet you have in your kitchen, because we have to move it."

"Uh, ok. When do you -"

"Now."

"See, the thing is, I'm at work right now."

"Oh. Hm. That's a problem, actually, because we really can't do anything else until we can get this -"

"Give me twenty minutes."

They're pretty nice guys, really. They're funny, and reasonably friendly, and they definitely know what they're doing, renovation-wise. I enjoyed chatting with them while I emptied out my cabinet, making six trips to my parents' house while carrying a laundry basket loaded with heavy, sometimes dusty things.

I dunno, though. Maybe it was having to take a second shower, and pick out a second work-appropriate outfit today. Maybe it was repeatedly walking past the air conditioning guys sitting on my porch, again, with my arms full of heavy things. Maybe it was missing a couple of hours of work that I could probably have used on my next paycheck.

Something certainly caused this astonishingly bad mood I'm in. :-P

Oh, glorious Mountain Dew... Is there anything you can't make better?

God, that's obnoxious, LOL. Sounds like a liability issue, the not moving your stuff deal.

Which I can understand. A painter at my house years ago tore up a very valuable SW collectible magazine to spit out his gum. Those guys just roamed the house looking for stuff to eat and toilets to pee in the general direction of.

But you know, maybe these guys could've made it clearer just how much stuff needed to be moved out, and the last minute shuffle would've been avoided.

Here, have some sympathy waffles. :D
