Well, after all of my stress the past couple weeks, today was very nice indeed. I got to sleep in a bit, and then Mom and I took a long walk together, and talked about wedding plans, and work frustrations, and so on. It was kinda stressful, just because I was hashing out all this stuff that's been bothering me, and some of it got me angry to recount it, but then I felt better afterward, so that was all right.

And then Jimmy and I went in to the office to work for a few hours while no one was there (except that Martelle was in the main building, so I got to chat with her for a bit, which was nice, and Robert and Leigh were in the annex for some of the time - but no one else was in the little house, where I work, so I could blast my music as loud as I wanted), and then we called [livejournal.com profile] zinaya_y2kewel and [livejournal.com profile] y2kewel and asked if they wanted to bring their new baby out to dinner with us.

They said yes, but not for an hour, and so Jimmy and I went to CompUSA first and - Dude! Jimmy bought me my birthday present early, and it is so cool! I now have all of the King's Quest games, formatted to run with the newer versions of Windows. Eeee! He also got me a laptop cooling pad, so I can play for hours and hours even over here at Mom and Dad's, and not burn my legs. Yayes!

And then dinner was very awesome, on top of that. And I got to hold the baby, who was squashily awesome.

I'd write some more, or something, but I think I have to go play King's Quest I for a while...

Eeeee, I'm so jealous! I didn't know they had it. Last I heard Sierra's KQ re-release didn't upgrade the old DOS games so you'd have to run them on DOSBox or something like that.

The first one, at least (haven't tried the others yet), runs on some kind of built-in DOS dealie. There's about three seconds of lag right at the beginning when you start it up, but then it goes along just as smooth as one might wish, and quitting out dumps you back into Windows with no troubles.

And the box set was like twenty bucks at CompUSA, so reasonably affordable even as a non-birthday gift-to-self, if you can track it down on the onlines or something.

Yay! I'm glad you had a better day, and had the chance to talk about things with your mother.

The weekend as a whole has been quite a mood-booster, so far. Thank goodness!

I really should get one of those cooling pad things, but I'm too cheap. It makes me sad to buy things like that now that I no longer have my discount at Best Buy.
I'm betting the not overly toasty lap would thank me though.

The one I got was only about twenty bucks. It doesn't have a fan, or anything, but it's designed to promote airflow more than your lap does. It seems to be working quite well, so far.
