As of this evening, we have a working microwave in the Casa de Fleming y York. Woo! Now I can eat frozen vegetarian corndogs whenever I want (providing that there are some in the freezer, of course).

Other things that are making me happy right now:

* Henry Weinhard's Orange Cream Soda. Mmmmm.

* Feeling like I'm accomplishing something with my writing.

* The prospect of a dress-up costume that doesn't require specialized undergarments and which will not restrict my breathing or motion. OMG IT'S BEEN SO LONG.

* Five Times / Five Things format fic. I have much love for this stylistic device.

Henry Weinhard's Orange Cream Soda. Mmmmm.

Regina, my college roommate and I call that "Patriarchy Soda." We were taste-testing all of the different orange cream sodas one night and that one was distinguished by the dude with the old-fashioned mustache on the label. Mustache = patriarchy, in this case. You know.

Dude! The patriarchy is delicious!

...And now I'm giggling uncontrollably.

Producing this orange soda may be the height of the patriarchy's achievements.

I live a microwave free life.

I just never bothered to buy one since it's not really necessary for my lifestyle (anything I have right now that one would ordinarily use a microwave for I substitute with my stove or toaster oven).

But, uhm, congrats on the microwave :)

Hee, thanks. I'm one of those people who likes to do cooking in big batches and save extra portions for later reheating. And it's hard to warm stuff like acorn squash or steak up in the oven without charring it, so I'm really pleased about having an alternative method now. Woo!

I would die without my microwave, especially since my oven is still not working. It amazes me how many things I can put in the microwave instead.

Now I want corndogs, though.

What is the costume?

I am all about the Morningstar meatless corndogs. They really honestly do taste just like regular corndogs, and they are way less greasy.

I shall give you a BROAD HINT! I will be wearing my boots, and have purchased a flight suit and some pretty iron-on patches.

I don't have a microwave either, and I was doing just fine without it, until my pregnancy. So, naturally, the one thing I'm craving at all times WOULD be popcorn. I'm going as Kaylee from Firefly. Why? Because the coveralls were cheap, and really freaking comfy. I even have a long-sleeved, covered in pictures of butterflies, that would be PERFECT to wear underneath.

Hee, that's my costume, too.

Maybe you should get an air popper? I've got one of those, and I really like doing popcorn that way a lot better than in the microwave anyhow. I can make just as much as I want and use actual butter and so on.
