revena: Man and woman embracing in bodice-ripper cliche pose, with a vacuum cleaner (Romance)
[personal profile] revena
So Karen and I were talking, as we do, and she tried to drag me in on this whole perfect guy/teenage crush poll thing. What poll thing, you ask? Well! It began when author Trish Doller proposed that Jake Ryan is a more perfect guy than Edward Cullen, and provided a scientific poll to prove it. Karen, however, believes that Gilbert Blythe is more perfect than Jake Ryan, and she too has science to bring to the table. And now Carla is saying that Oz is more perfect than Gilbert Blythe.

I love polls! And science! And guys! So I felt like I should really be a part of this. But, as I remarked to Karen, the guys I thought of as perfect when I was in the mad-crushing stage of teenageness weren't like Edward Cullen or Jake Ryan or Gilbert Blythe or even Oz. Mostly, I had the hots for Data.

BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? I can prove that Data is a more perfect guy than any of those other dudes, and I can do it with science and a quotation:

TASHA: You are fully functional, aren't you?

DATA: Of course.

TASHA: How fully?

DATA: In every way, of course. I am programmed in . . . multiple techniques; a wide variety of pleasuring.

Yeah, that's right. I went there.

1) I am so glad that Edward has zero votes.

2) I like Data, though I prefer Worf, but I have to stick with Oz, because his panicking senior year (round two, for him) was hot, and because I think it's incredibly sexy to control the werewolf. Plus anyone who can have that kind of control over that kind of changes is likely to have great concentration in other areas too. Plus, hot.

3) I love that Data was your teenage crush. Worf was my pre-teen crush. Yay ST:TNG!

I didn't develop a thing for Worf until DS9, but then I was reeeally into him. That episode where he's helping Quark impress a klingon woman and there's all the sexually-charged sparring? Yeeeeah.

Sexually-charged sparring? UH. That's pretty much hot no matter what else is going on.

I always had a thing for Bashir. Call me crazy.

Bashir was definitely worthy of having things for. Most of the guys on DS9 did it for me, but I didn't watch the show until I was a grownup.

I did start watching DS9 when I was a teenager, and I had things for Kira, Jadzia, Worf, and Bashir.

I wouldn't want an Edward, I'd want a Jasper....

But for your poll I'll take an Oz. Red heads are hotties.

Just to give you an idea of how really OLD I am, I had a pre-teen crush on The Professor on Gilligan's Island. Well, he was the only one on the island with a functioning brain!

I know he'd be my top pick on that island.

Buffy the Vampire didn't start airing until I was already at university, and because I was in the UK (they generally air shows one or two seasons behind), I didn't actually hear much about/know anything about Buffy until 1999 or 2000, when my friends started getting more into it. Oz came across my radar way late for me to ever have a chance at having a teenage crush on him. I also don't remember Buffy very well, and I never watched every single episode, so I can't really say I know Oz's character all that well.

I don't really know who the other guys are.

However, Star Trek TNG was definitely airing when I was a teenager. TNG and DS9 were like my ultimate shows of ultimate fangirly nerdiness back in the day. I didn't really care for Data as much as the other characters, but I did like him. My vote goes to Data.

Arrgh! I can't decide! Data or Gilbert?!?!

I never dreamed I'd be faced with this conundrum!

Several years ago it would be Gilbert Blythe hands down. But now...with the scientific evidence you provide I think it is slightly in Data's favor.

I'm not interested in science. This is a matter of the heart. Gilbert Blythe all the way <3 <3 <3 Of course, you realise I have no f*cking clue who the others are. But that's ok. Because Gilbert is clearly the best.

Damn! I jsut went to the Oz vs whoever the other dude is poll and Oz got all my love, but I'm afraid that Data does, if fact PWN all of them put together.
I was totally going to use my Data icon, but I traded it out a while ago and it was on the hard drive that fried ;_;
