Mouse Mourning

There's something irritating going on with my mouse on my desktop rig. I had this one mouse (with a built-in fan!) That I loooved, but after several years I killed it dead. So then I was using my portable laptop mouse for a while, which kinda sucked, and then Jimmy upgraded his mouse, so he gave me his castoff. Which keeps disconnecting from my machine for some reason. USB issues? Some fault in the device itself? Or perhaps the computing gods just wanted to see if I could be induced to compose an lj post on my telephone, overcome with the frustration of unreliable mousing and willing to hazard, instead, a tiny keyboard.

Well, there's one question answered, O computing gods!
